SPARK Privacy Policy

Effective October 27, 2026 · Applies to the SPARK app for iOS (bundle ID com.joshpendergrass.spark)

The short version

Who we are

SPARK is made by Better Brand (“we”, “us”). We are responsible for the data practices described here. You can reach us at josh@betterbrand.life.

This policy covers SPARK only. Our studio privacy policy describes the practices that apply to all Better Brand games.

Who SPARK is for

SPARK is intended for players aged 13 and older. It is not directed at children under 13, and we do not knowingly collect personal information from children under 13. If you believe a child under 13 has used SPARK and data about them has been collected, email us and we will help delete it.

What stays on your device

SPARK saves the following only on your device, in the app's local storage:

We never receive this data. It is not backed up to our servers because we don't have any. Deleting the app deletes it.

SPARK has no user accounts, no sign-in, and no in-app purchases. We don't ask for your name, email address, phone number, contacts, photos, or precise location.

What third-party services collect

SPARK uses three Google services. They run inside the app and collect data automatically, as described below and in Google's own policies.

ServiceWhat it's forData it collects
Google AdMob
(Google Mobile Ads SDK)
Showing ads: rewarded ads you choose to watch for a bonus, and occasional full-screen (interstitial) ads between levels. Device identifiers (including the Apple advertising identifier, IDFA, only if you allow tracking), approximate location derived from your IP address, ad interactions (ads shown, viewed, clicked, rewards earned), and device information such as model, OS version, and language.
Firebase Analytics Understanding how SPARK is played so we can improve it: gameplay events (for example levels started and finished) and whether players accept or decline ad offers. The Firebase app instance ID (a random ID for your installation of SPARK), gameplay and ad-offer events, approximate location derived from your IP address, and app usage and diagnostic information such as sessions, app version, device model, and OS version.
Firebase Remote Config Adjusting game settings remotely, such as how often ads are offered, without shipping an app update. The Firebase app instance ID and basic device and app information needed to deliver the right settings.

We use this data only to run, measure, and improve SPARK and to show ads that pay for it. We don't sell it to data brokers, and we don't combine it with information from other sources to identify you.

Google processes this data under its own policies. To learn more, see How Google uses information from sites or apps that use its services, the Google Privacy Policy, and Privacy and Security in Firebase.

Ads, tracking, and your consent

App Tracking Transparency (all iOS users)

SPARK uses Apple's App Tracking Transparency prompt to ask whether we may track you across apps and websites owned by other companies. If you choose Ask App Not to Track, SPARK and Google AdMob cannot access your device's advertising identifier (IDFA), and ads are not personalized using it. You can change this anytime in iOS Settings › Privacy & Security › Tracking.

Consent in the EEA, UK, and Switzerland

If you are in the European Economic Area, the United Kingdom, or Switzerland, SPARK shows Google's consent message (Google's User Messaging Platform) before personalized ads or related data processing take place. You choose whether Google and its ad partners may use your data for personalized advertising and measurement.

Personalized vs. non-personalized ads

Ads are personalized only when you have given the required permission (App Tracking Transparency and, where applicable, consent through Google's consent message). Otherwise, SPARK requests non-personalized ads, which are based on general context such as the app and your approximate location rather than your activity elsewhere. Non-personalized ads may still use device data for frequency capping, fraud prevention, and ad measurement.

Changing your choices

Legal bases (EEA, UK, and Switzerland)

Where data protection law requires a legal basis, we rely on:

How long data is kept

Data on your device stays until you delete the app. Data collected by Google is kept according to Google's retention policies and our Firebase settings. Firebase Analytics event data is deleted automatically after the retention period we have configured, and we keep only aggregated reports beyond that.

Where data is processed

Google may process data in the United States and other countries where it operates. Google uses safeguards such as Standard Contractual Clauses for transfers out of the EEA, UK, and Switzerland.

Your rights

Depending on where you live (for example under the GDPR, UK GDPR, or US state privacy laws such as the CCPA), you may have the right to access, correct, delete, or receive a copy of personal data, to object to or restrict certain processing, to withdraw consent, and to opt out of the “sale” or “sharing” of personal data for targeted advertising.

We won't treat you differently for exercising your rights. If you are in the EEA, UK, or Switzerland, you also have the right to complain to your local data protection authority.

Security

Data sent by the Google SDKs travels over encrypted connections. Your progress and settings never leave your device. No method of storage or transmission is perfectly secure, but we limit what we collect to reduce risk.

Changes to this policy

If we change this policy, we'll update it on this page and change the effective date above. If a change significantly affects how your data is used, we'll also ask for your consent again where the law requires it.
